The stone is classified as “fancy intense pink” – the best rating for a pink diamond, by the Gemmological Institute of America. The emerald cut diamond is mounted on a silver ring with 2 flanking field-shaped diamonds.
2. $30m - Diamond Bikini By Susan Rosen And Steinmetz
The bikini comprises of one 51-carat flawless pearl shaped diamond, one 30-carat flawless emerald cut diamond, two 15-carat flawless round diamonds and two 8-carat flawless pearl shaped diamonds, all set in platinum. The bikini featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit in 2006, modelled by Molly Sims.
3. $24.3m – The Whittelsbach -Graff Diamond
Originally a 35.56-carat stone, this diamond was purchased and controversially re-cut by the well-known London jeweller Laurence Graff to create a 31.06-carat stone. The diamond is a fancy deep-blue diamond with internally flawless clarity.
The stone originates from the mines of India, and its ownership can be traced through many Royal hands including those of King Philip IV of Spain. It has recently been displayed at the National Museum of Natural History in Washington DC.

“It has the highest possible grading you can get from the Gemmological Institute of America, coupled with the fact that a brilliant-cut diamond is the most difficult of all cuts to achieve from a rough diamond” said David Bennett, head of Sotheby’s jewellery department.
