Top most 5 expensive Diamond


1. $46m – The Graff Pink Fancy Diamond

The Graff Pink DiamondThis rare pink diamond smashed the world record for a jewel at auction, having been sold for $46m at Sotheby’s Geneva in November 2010. The 24.78-carat stone was bought by renowned London jeweller Laurence Graff, and immediately named the Graff Pink.  Its previous owners include Harry Winston, U.S. jeweller to the stars in the mid 20thCentury.
The stone is classified as “fancy intense pink” – the best rating for a pink diamond, by the Gemmological Institute of America. The emerald cut diamond is mounted on a silver ring with 2 flanking field-shaped diamonds.

2. $30m  - Diamond Bikini By Susan Rosen And Steinmetz

Diamond BikiniFeaturing over 150-carats of some of the world’s rarest diamonds, this diamond bikini designed by Susan Rosen and Steinmetz holds the current record as the most expensive item of clothing.
The bikini comprises of one 51-carat flawless pearl shaped diamond, one 30-carat flawless emerald cut diamond, two 15-carat flawless round diamonds and two 8-carat flawless pearl shaped diamonds,  all set in platinum. The bikini featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit in 2006, modelled by Molly Sims.

 

 

3. $24.3m – The Whittelsbach -Graff Diamond

Originally a 35.56-carat stone, this diamond was purchased and controversially re-cut by the well-known London jeweller Laurence Graff to create a 31.06-carat stone. The diamond is a fancy deep-blue diamond with internally flawless clarity.

The stone originates from the mines of India, and its ownership can be traced through many Royal hands including those of King Philip IV of Spain. It has recently been displayed at the National Museum of Natural History in Washington DC.

 4. $16.5m – Star Of The Season White Diamond By Sotheby’s

The Star of the Season DiamondKnown as the “Star of the Season”, this 100.1-carat white diamond sold at Sotheby’s in 1995 for a record breaking $16.5m.


 

5. $16.2m – The Chloe White Diamond

The Chloe White DiamondThis 84.37-carat stone, touted for its size and beauty, sold at Sotheby’s Geneva in Nov 2007 for $16.2m, falling just short of the record breaking “Star of the Season” stone, which sold for $16.5m in 1995. The winning bid was made via telephone by Georges Marciano, founder of Guess clothing company, who named the stone “The Chloe Diamond” after his daughter.
“It has the highest possible grading you can get from the Gemmological Institute of America, coupled with the fact that a brilliant-cut diamond is the most difficult of all cuts to achieve from a rough diamond” said David Bennett, head of Sotheby’s jewellery department.
